I loved The Police (ok..that sounds strange, but I do mean the band..) and used to be a regular attendee of the “Police Picnics” held every year at the C.N.E. in Toronto. Not only did I constantly wear down my vinyl discs, but also loved to see them live as every song was interpreted differently each time (just like jazz artists, I would find out later in life). Such musicianship! The story in this song is inspirational. It describes a “typical suburban family morning” with bored people lost in their tiny egotistical lives, but the chorus jolts us into the big picture of a supernatural horror story about to change all that….and leaves us hanging. Genius! And a great guitar solo, Andy! Years later, during their solo careers, I met Sting several times, and helped Andy save a concert being staged in Paris – what a wonderfully nice chap!
